Student Responsibilities
We expect students to be accountable when seeking financial aid by adhering to the following principles.
-
Apply for financial aid each year by submitting the annual FAFSA and providing all required documents in an accurate and timely fashion. Incoming undergraduate freshman and transfer students must also file the CSS Profile to be considered for institutional need-based aid.
If you plan to attend a summer session and want financial aid, you must complete the prior year's FAFSA. Generally, summer aid is limited to federal aid programs and alternative loans. For example: we award Fall 2023, Spring and Summer 2024 aid based on the 2023-2024 FAFSA; we award Fall 2022, Spring and Summer 2023 aid based on the 2022-2023 FAFSA.
- Understand that verification may require a correction to your FAFSA data, which may impact your aid eligibility. We reserve the right to modify any financial aid offer based on your verification results.
- Check your Baylor email and BearWeb often and read all correspondence. Keep copies of the documents you send as well as those sent to you.
- Keep your address and contact information up-to-date in BearWeb.
- Notify our office of any changes to your enrollment status (most scholarships require full-time enrollment) and understand that drops and/or withdrawals may affect your aid eligibility for the current and/or subsequent years.
- Inform us of any changes in your family's financial conditions.
- Report all scholarships or other aid received from sources outside of Baylor.
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress for federal and state aid eligibility. Also, realize that different aid programs have different renewal requirements. Read all messages associated with your aid for details.
- Understand that scholarships and grants in excess of tuition, required fees, books, supplies and equipment may be subject to income tax.
