Baylor offers a variety of “specialty” scholarships for students who meet specific qualifications.

The various team coaches in Baylor Athletics award athletic scholarships in accordance with NCAA guidelines. Students interested in seeking an athletic scholarship should contact Baylor Athletics at (254) 710-1234 for the name of the contact person for each sport.
There are many scholarships available for students who are active in a Baptist church, pursuing a career in the church or whose parent is a Baptist minister or missionary.
Baptist Church Matching Scholarship
Baylor matches outside scholarship assistance from a student's Baptist church, state Baptist convention or Baptist church affiliated program up to $1,000 per academic year (excluding summer). We reserve the right to determine appropriate convention and Baptist church affiliated programs. Funds are matched upon receipt of the scholarship check(s) and the completed Baptist Church Matching certification form. Matching funds are available as long as the church continues to provide scholarship support and the student is enrolled full-time and maintains a minimum 2.5 Baylor cumulative GPA. Please report the church portion of the scholarship by completing the Outside Scholarship Report Form (Log in using your BearID).
Baptist Minister's Dependent Scholarship
Baylor awards scholarships of $5,000 per academic year to the dependents of pastors, ministers of music, ministers of education, and other full-time ministers actively serving or officially retired from serving a Baptist congregation, a state convention, or an agency in a ministerial role certified by a Baptist convention. Students must provide documentation of their parent's full-time employment in a ministerial capacity by a Baptist church or other Baptist entity. This scholarship is renewable beyond the initial year provided the student continues to maintain full-time undergraduate enrollment and a minimum 2.5 Baylor cumulative GPA.
Baptist Missionaries' Dependent Scholarship
Baylor awards scholarships of up to $5,000 per academic year to the dependents of missionaries actively serving or officially retired from serving a Baptist international mission agency. Students must provide documentation of their parent's employment in this capacity. This scholarship is renewable beyond the initial year provided the student continues to maintain full-time undergraduate enrollment and a minimum 2.5 Baylor cumulative GPA.
BGCT (Baptist) Ministry Scholarship
Baylor, in cooperation with the Baptist General Convention of Texas, provides educational assistance to Baptist students who are preparing for careers in church-related vocational ministry. The amount of this scholarship is 5% of tuition for Baylor undergraduate hours. For further information, please click here.
Presidential Denominational
Baylor awards scholarships of $1,500 per academic year to Baptist students who provide confirmation of their participation in the Challengers Program (formerly the High School Baptist Young Men Program) or the Studiact Program (formerly Acteens Program). Challengers participants must also provide proof of having received the National Leadership Award. Studiact participants must show proof of having completed all six Quest levels (formerly, Acteens had to receive the Texas Acteens Citation Award). Studiact participants who have served as Texas state or national panelists for the WMU are also eligible. This scholarship is renewable for a total of 8 undergraduate semesters, provided the student maintains full-time undergraduate enrollment status and a minimum 2.5 Baylor cumulative GPA.
Baptist Youth Speakers Scholarship
Students who provide confirmation of their participation in the Baptist Youth Speakers Tournament and who place either first, second or third at the state level competition will receive an annual scholarship for $5,000, $3,500, or $2,500 respectively. Students are only eligible for one Baptist Youth Speakers Tournament scholarship regardless of the number of times they have placed in the competition. This scholarship is renewable for a total of 8 undergraduate semesters, provided the student maintains full-time undergraduate enrollment status and a minimum 2.5 Baylor cumulative GPA.
Baylor awards several scholarships to incoming freshmen who demonstrate leadership through service. Recipients are awarded a minimum of $6,150 their freshman year, renewable for three additional years.
Who Should Apply
For consideration, applicants must:
- rank in the top quarter of their graduating class
- have a minimum score of 1310 on the SAT or 28 on the ACT*
- have completed a balanced college preparatory program including history, science and a foreign language
- be an established resident of the state of Texas
*Applicants who elect test-optional admission for the 2023-2024 academic year will be considered eligible to apply if they demonstrate academic success within a challenging curriculum as determined through the admission review process.

Requirements
In addition to submitting the scholarship application, you must submit the following scholarship materials:
- A resume of your high school honors, awards, achievements and extracurricular activities
- A handwritten essay of no more than 500 words illustrating your concept of leadership and how community service experiences have impacted your life
- A specific nomination for the Carr P. Collins Scholars Program from a teacher, counselor or principal that includes a brief explanation of why you deserve the scholarship

Scholarship Details
Collins Scholars must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average, make satisfactory academic progress toward a degree, and continue to demonstrate dedication to leadership and service. Recipients must participate in a program of civic or community service approved by Baylor University for one semester during each year they are a designated Collins Scholar. In addition, they must attend special seminars designed for the program and an annual dinner held in their honor. Finally, Collins Scholars must maintain a relationship with Baylor and the Carr P. Collins Scholars Program to mentor future scholarship recipients and illustrate the program’s positive results.
The following scholarship committees are now accepting applications from current Baylor students.
Many department scholarships are only available to upperclassmen, however, there are a few departments that do have scholarships for incoming freshmen. Even if your department doesn’t have incoming freshman scholarships, we encourage you to explore what is available and start planning early for all 4 years of your Baylor education.
Baylor awards Sibling Scholarships* in the amount of $3,000 each on a first-come, first serve basis to undergraduate students who have one or more dependent siblings concurrently enrolled at Baylor (at least one must be an incoming freshman). Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and CSS Profile and demonstrate financial need. Each sibling must be admitted and subsequently, enroll at Baylor. For consideration, please email scholarships@baylor.edu. Use "Sibling Scholarship" in the email subject line and include each sibling's name and Baylor student ID number (send one email per family). Renewal of this scholarship is contingent on the siblings maintaining financial need, full-time undergraduate enrollment, and a minimum 2.5 cumulative Baylor GPA. Renewal eligibility ends when fewer than two siblings are enrolled as undergraduates at Baylor.
The Baylor Parents Network, through the generosity of parent donors, established the Student Emergency Fund (SEF) to assist students with unexpected or emergency short-term expenses. The maximum award is $1,000 per academic year.
Fundamental to Student Foundation’s work each year is to award scholarships to deserving Baylor students. Our Student Foundation members work throughout the year to raise funds from generous Baylor alumni and friends, whose support makes these scholarships possible. The dollar amount of possible scholarship awards is determined each spring semester and comes from both annual gifts and our 90 endowed Student Foundation scholarships.
Baylor awards several scholarships to incoming freshmen, as well as upperclassmen, who demonstrate commitment to advancing racial equality and diversity. Recipients are awarded a maximum of $5,000 their freshman year, renewable for three additional years. Current college students are awarded a maximum of $5,000 per year, renewable until graduation.
Who Should Apply
For consideration, applicants must:
- Demonstrate commitment to advancing racial equality and diversity
- Complete the FAFSA or TASFA
- Complete CSS Profile
- Be a U.S. Citizen or a permanent U.S. resident
- Have two consecutive semesters remaining (this applies to currently enrolled Baylor students)

- One specific nomination for the Trailblazer Scholarship Program (from a teacher, professor, counselor, principal, etc.) that includes an explanation of why you deserve the scholarship. Please make sure the nominator not only knows your involvement well, but can also provide specific details on your efforts to advance the racial equality and/or diversity in your community

Scholarship Details
Trailblazer Scholars must maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average, make satisfactory academic progress towards a degree, and continue to demonstrate commitment to advancing racial equality and diversity. Recipients must participate in six events/programs per semester (diverse in nature/culturally based) during each year they are a designated Trailblazer Scholar. In addition, they must attend the Trailblazer Scholars Orientation and Trailblazer Welcome Reception held at the beginning of the Fall Semester. Trailblazer Scholars are encouraged to maintain a relationship with Baylor and the Trailblazer Scholarship Program to mentor future scholarship recipients and illustrate the program’s positive results. Scholars are also asked to provide current mailing address and email address to the Trailblazer Scholarship Committee each year after graduation.
Baylor will also help you process VA Education Benefits and participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program.
