Tuition

2023-2024 Tuition Cost

Regents Approve 2023 - 2024 Tuition and Fees

To assist in addressing many of the current financial challenges, the Board of Regents approved a tuition increase of 6% for the 2023-2024 academic year. Baylor previously eliminated the distinction between tuition and the general student fee by combining both into a single tuition rate.

Undergraduate

Undergraduate student tuition, required fees, parking permit, meal plans, residence hall room, and other fees for the semester.

Undergraduate Tuition & Fees

Fall 2023/Spring 2024

Tuition Per Semester
Regular Flat Rate (12 hours or more) $27,422
Per Credit Hour (11 hours or less) $2,285
Course or Lab Fee (Varies per course) $50
Chapel $90
Matriculation Fee* $100
Applied Music Fee (Per credit hour, per applied course) $360

For a comprehensive cost estimate, see Baylor's Cost of Attendance. Information about Baylor's Guaranteed Tuition Option is available below.

Wintermester Tuition: $1,518 per semester hour (3 credit hours x $1,518 = $4,554)

Additional Cost Information

  • Meal Plan Options and Pricing
  • On-Campus Housing Rates
  • Optional Fees and Charges (e.g., parking permit, yearbook, fines/fees, etc.)

*The Matriculation Fee is a one-time fee charged to all newly admitted, degree seeking students to offset the costs associated with admissions and the creation of a new student record.

Guaranteed Tuition Option

Deadline to enroll in the 2023-2024 Guaranteed Tuition Option is July 31, 2023.

Baylor University's Guaranteed Tuition Option offers students the opportunity to lock in a four-year tuition rate instead of paying the regular tuition rate, which is subject to increase annually. Participation in the Guaranteed Tuition Option eliminates uncertainty about the cost of tuition, and it allows students and families to prepare their educational budgets more accurately.

2023-2024 Tuition Rates

Undergraduate students enrolling full-time (12 hours or more) in the Fall of 2023 will be charged one of the following tuition rates:

  Semester Rate Annual Rate
Regular Tuition Rate $27,422 $54,844
Guaranteed Tuition Option $28,867 $57,734

Students will be charged the regular tuition rate if no election is made. Undergraduate students who lock in the guaranteed rate but enroll in fewer than 12 hours in a fall/spring semester will pay an hourly rate of $2,405 per hour. Students who complete their undergraduate degree and continue their graduate studies at Baylor will also pay the hourly rate of $2,405 per hour during fall or spring semesters as long as it is still within the 48-month program period. The guaranteed hourly rate for summer terms is $1,608 per hour (first effective Summer 2022). Students in need of more than four years (48 months) to complete their Baylor education will be charged tuition at the University's regular rate in the fifth year and in any subsequent years.

Graduation Success Resources

This video series, hosted by Dr. Blaine McCormick, Associate Professor - Management & Entrepreneurship in the Hankamer School of Business, is designed to provide food for thought when planning for your college experience.

Additional financial and graduation success resources are available on our Financial Literacy webpage.

Election to Participate

Election of the 2023-2024 Guaranteed Tuition Option will begin June 1, 2023 and the deadline to elect is July 31, 2023 (Fall due date). During the enrollment period, students may enroll by logging into BearWeb > Student Financial Services > Student Account > Guaranteed Tuition Option.

By electing to participate in the Guaranteed Tuition Option, students choose to pay a tuition rate which is initially higher than the regular rate. However, the guaranteed tuition rate is fixed and will not increase over the 48-month enrollment period. A student who graduates and continues his/her graduate studies at Baylor during the 48-month enrollment period will continue to be charged tuition at the guaranteed hourly rate during the period.

Cancellation

Enrollment in the Guaranteed Tuition Option may be canceled at any time by contacting Student Accounts. Notice received within the first two weeks of a semester will terminate the election effective that semester. When notice is received after the first two weeks of a semester, termination will become effective (and the student will be charged the regular tuition rate) beginning the following semester.

No portion of the guaranteed tuition rate is refundable in any manner other than as described in the University's refund policy, whether or not the participant is able to maintain enrollment at Baylor during the 48-month enrollment period.

Baylor Undergraduate Academic Scholarships for Summer

Students who entered Baylor as first-time freshmen are eligible to request that one semester of their Baylor academic scholarship be applied to Summer if they are:

  • Graduating in Summer or Fall in seven (7) or fewer undergraduate semesters
  • Graduating in Spring or later in seven (7) or fewer undergraduate semesters (academic advisor's signature required on request form--see link below).

Students are not required to enroll full-time; however, if you are enrolled less than half-time, the scholarship will not exceed tuition costs. Note: Use of the scholarship during the summer term counts toward the maximum semesters of eligibility and applies to the Baylor Faculty or Distinction Scholarships.

  • If you entered Baylor as a transfer student, please click here to request a Summer Scholarship exception.
Outside Scholarships

For Fall/Spring outside scholarships, please complete the Outside Scholarship Report Form (Log in using your BearID [firstname_lastname] and password). Please be advised that an outside scholarship may affect your financial aid eligibility. Baylor's policy allows outside scholarships to first reduce work-study or loans; however, because of federal or state regulations, Financial Aid may have to adjust your grants and/or scholarships. Please contact the Student Financial Aid office if you have any questions or concerns.

Tuition Refund Insurance

Baylor University is pleased to offer an optional service that helps protect the student from financial loss in the event of an unexpected accident or illness resulting in the student's withdrawal from classes.

Tuition Refund Insurance

Your education is important. So are the dollars that you spend on tuition.

Each semester, thousands of college students across the nation are unable to complete their classes due to unforeseen medical issues. At Baylor, the timing of a withdrawal determines the refund percentage for tuition and fees (see our withdrawal refund policy). We understand medical hardships can quickly become financial hardships, which is why we are pleased to bring your attention to an insurance product offered to Baylor students by GradGuard.

Tuition Refund Insurance can help refund your tuition, fees, and other costs of attendance, up to the policy limits, if you are unable to complete the semester due to a covered medical reason such as an illness, accident, or mental health issue. Tuition Refund Insurance complements and enhances Baylor’s refund policy and helps protect your educational investment.

Purchasing tuition insurance is entirely optional. Whether you choose to purchase coverage (and at what level) will depend on your individual net cost and your personal risk appetite.

Please visit GradGuard.com/Tuition/Baylor for more information. To enroll, log in to the E-Bill System and follow the prompts.

For a comprehensive cost estimate, see Baylor's Cost of Attendance.
