Veteran Education Benefit Types

Discover and deepen your understanding of the many different VA educational benefit programs accepted at Baylor University. Explore the range of options available to veterans, active-duty service members, and their eligible dependents so you can make informed decisions, maximize your benefits, and get the most out of your Baylor experience.

Learn about Post 9/11 GI Bill® on the VA website. 

Who is eligible?
  • Veterans who served after 9/10/2001 

  • Dependent child or spouse using approved transfer of benefits by a qualifying Veteran or service member 

 
What it covers:
  • Up to $30,908.34 per year for tuition & mandatory fees at private institutions (amounts vary based on eligibility percentage) 

  • Monthly housing allowance 

  • Books & supplies stipend 

  • View payment rates on the VA webpage 

  • May be eligible for the Yellow Ribbon Program 

  • Note: Does NOT Cover: resident hall costs, meal plans, Follett fees, study abroad program fees/deposits, parking permits, or any non-mandatory fees

Who is eligible?
  • Dependents/spouses of veterans who are permanently disabled or deceased due to service 
What it covers:
  • Monthly stipend paid directly to the student, based on time status

  • Note: Does NOT cover tuition, fees, housing, or other related expenses

Who is eligible?
  • Veterans with at least 10% service-connected disability

What it covers:
  • Full tuition and mandatory fees
  • Monthly subsistence allowance
  • Supplies and books require a separate VR&E authorization
  • Non-mandatory fees or expenses must be approved by a VR&E case manager
  • Enrollment deposit

Who is eligible?
  • Members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard Reserve, Army National Guard, or Air National Guard
What it covers:
  • Monthly stipend paid directly to the student, based on time status

Learn about Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship on the VA website. 

Who is eligible?
  • Children and surviving spouses of service member or member of Selected Reserve who died on or after 9/11/2001 
What it covers:
  • Up to $29,920.05 per year for tuition & mandatory fees at private institutions (amounts vary based on eligibility percentage) 

  • Monthly housing allowance 

  • Books & supplies stipend 

  • May be eligible for the Yellow Ribbon Program 

  • Note: Does NOT Cover: resident hall costs, meal plans, Follett fees, study abroad program fees/deposits, parking permits, or any non-mandatory fees

Baylor University is not a public institution and therefore is not eligible for participation in this state of Texas program.  

Baylor University is not currently enrolled in the Department of Defense’s Tuition Assistance (TA) program and therefore is unable to accept TA funding.
